On July 20, the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the CPC made the "Decision on Carrying out Nationwide Learning Activities to Learn from Comrade Zhou Jiangjiang in the Housing and Urban-Rural Development System."
Zhou Jiangjiang, male, from Haimen, Nantong, Jiangsu Province, was born on October 6, 1985. He graduated from Soochow University in June 2006, majoring in Economic Management. In July of the same year, he was appointed deputy manager of the 10th branch of Tongzhou Construction Group Co., Ltd. in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province. In the early morning of July 2, 2012, a fire broke out in the dormitory building rented by the company in Yantai Development Zone. Comrade Zhou Jiangjiang disregarded his personal safety and rushed into the fire twice, waking up sleeping employees room by room. All 10 employees were rescued, but he sacrificed his precious life at the age of only 27.
The decision pointed out that Comrade Zhou Jiangjiang was fearless in the face of life and death, thinking only of others and willing to sacrifice his precious life. His heroic deeds fully demonstrated the strong social responsibility, noble spiritual qualities, and good professional ethics of builders and the new generation of entrepreneurs in the new era. They highlighted the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation and served as a model for practicing the socialist core value system in the housing and urban-rural development system, as well as an example for the majority of cadres and workers to learn from. Currently, vigorously publicizing Comrade Zhou Jiangjiang's heroic deeds is of great significance for further strengthening moral power and inspiring the majority of cadres and workers in the housing and urban-rural development system to consciously practice the socialist core value system.
The decision requires learning from Comrade Zhou Jiangjiang's heroic spirit of selflessness and rescuing others at the risk of his own life. At the critical moment between life and death, he rushed forward and was willing to sacrifice himself, exchanging his own life for the continuation of others' lives. With his selfless and fearless noble character and his spirit of courage and dedication, he wrote a magnificent chapter of life. We should learn from Comrade Zhou Jiangjiang's noble qualities of dedication to work and striving for goodness. He was humble and eager to learn, diligent and practical, trustworthy and innovative, with strict requirements for project quality, establishing a good corporate image. We should learn from Comrade Zhou Jiangjiang's great love of unity, friendship, and willingness to help others. Although he came from a well-off family, he always lived a frugal life. As a company leader, he cared for and loved employees, often helping those in financial difficulty. He was devoted to the company, concerned about society, enthusiastic about charity, and took the lead in donating money and materials to disaster areas.
The decision emphasized that housing and urban-rural development departments at all levels should strengthen the organization and leadership of learning and publicity activities, focusing on learning effectiveness. The learning and publicity of Comrade Zhou Jiangjiang's advanced deeds should be combined with the current special moral education and governance activities, with the in-depth promotion of the socialist core value system, and with the in-depth development of pioneering and excellence activities. Through various forms and effective learning and publicity activities, the ideological and moral quality of the majority of cadres and workers should be further improved, moral consciousness stimulated, moral realm elevated, and a strong atmosphere of learning from the advanced, respecting the advanced, and striving to be advanced should be formed throughout the system.
