2023-03-28
Zhou Yongkai, male, Han ethnicity, native of Bazhong, Sichuan, born in March 1928, started working in August 1945, and joined the Communist Party of China in the same month and year. He was the former deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Daxian County, Sichuan Province, and retired in June 1991.
Comrade Zhou Yongkai is a model of practicing the original mission of Communists and an example for Party members and cadres to learn from. He was infinitely loyal to the Party's cause, risking his life to engage in underground Party work in northern Sichuan before liberation. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he wholeheartedly worked for the people's welfare, obeying the Party and following it throughout his life, embodying the motto "The Party is a lifelong pursuit" through his actions. During his tenure, he was dedicated and hardworking, leading the masses in afforestation; he investigated cases under pressure and resolutely fought against corruption. After retirement, he actively devoted himself to ecological and environmental protection, leading the formation of a volunteer forest protection team of retired cadres, tirelessly participating in the forest protection and afforestation of Hua'e Mountain in Wanyuan City, promoting the establishment of Hua'e Mountain as a national nature reserve. He always practiced the simple promise "People may retire, but Communist Party members never retire" with vigorous revolutionary enthusiasm. He treated the masses like family, repeatedly donating his retirement funds to support education and poverty alleviation, donating more than 189,000 yuan in total, and supporting dozens of impoverished students from Hua'e Mountain for over ten consecutive years. He personally purchased Chinese medicinal herb seedlings for the people of Hua'e Mountain, promoted the establishment of the Sichuan-Shaanxi Ebei Professional Cooperative, driving large-scale planting and poverty alleviation in the old revolutionary base area, affectionately known by the people as "Old Revolutionary Zhou." He always held himself and his family to strict standards, voluntarily giving up the unit's collective housing fund and housing selection quota, and still lives in the old staff housing built in the 1980s, with most furniture dating back to the 1990s. Comrade Zhou Yongkai has steadfastly upheld the original mission of Communists for decades, dedicating his life to the old revolutionary base area and Hua'e Mountain, and is praised locally as the "Hua'e Yu Gong" (Hua'e Foolish Old Man).
